Privacy and terms

Local development preview. Last updated October 7, 2026. Review these terms before public distribution.

Your account

Vox uses Google sign-in. The service receives your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile image. Login credentials saved by the Windows app are protected for your Windows account using DPAPI.

Your speech and text

In local mode, recognition runs on your computer. Vox does not upload your audio for local dictation. Model downloads and account operations still use the internet. Microsoft Store manages app installation and updates under your Windows and Store settings.

Cloud writing requires your consent. Text sent for cleanup or voice editing passes through the Vox API to OpenRouter. Requests ask for no provider data collection and zero data retention; available providers must support those policies. Vox does not upload audio for these writing features.

Your history

Transcript history is off by default. When enabled, it stays on your computer, encrypted for your Windows account, with 24-hour or keep-until-deleted retention and a maximum of 500 entries. No audio history is saved. With history disabled, recovery is in memory only and cannot survive an app crash.

Billing and service records

Stripe processes subscription payments. Vox retains the customer and subscription identifiers, subscription status, and billing-period information. The service also retains user-linked cloud-access and usage-cost records for allowance enforcement and audit. Those records do not contain transcripts or audio.

Your choices

You can disable cloud writing, delete local history, sign out, and manage subscriptions in the app. Contact support@deskie.me for account-data requests.

Using Vox

Review dictated or edited text before relying on it. Speech recognition and rewriting can make mistakes. You are responsible for permission to process any speech or text you provide and for the content you send to other applications.

Subscriptions

Cloud plans are billed through Stripe at the price and interval shown at checkout. Monthly allowance resets on the first day of each calendar month and does not roll over. When the allowance is exhausted, local dictation remains available. Cancel through the billing portal; cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period.

Availability

This preview has not completed production acceptance testing. Compatibility, model availability, and service performance can vary. No claim of universal application support or a particular accuracy level is made for this build.
